Lebanese University's contract teachers stage sit-in in Hadath

The contract teachers of the Lebanese University staged on Thursday morning a sit-in where they closed the university campus in Hadath, with the participation of a great number of students.

The full-time teachers expressed their solidarity with their colleagues, the contractors, and participated in the sit-in, completely paralyzing the courses in all the faculties of the university.

"We will not offer any more classes until we are granted full-time employment and we will boycott midterms and the first semester,"they said., adding that all of the university's branches have been closed and they will only reopen once they are granted full-time employment.

In this context, the faculties' deans also expressed their total solidarity with the teachers and their rightful demands, supporting their call on the cabinet to approve the law which grants them permanent tenure.
