REPORT: The electricity, Olga's most prominent victim

The storm, along with the damages it caused to the electricity and the abstention of the EDL workers from repairing these damages due to the strike they are holding, increased the suffering of the Lebanese people concerning the power shortage.          

The electricity breakdowns expanded throughout Lebanon, leading to a power cut in the administrative Beirut and a part of the southern suburb sand the northern Metn.            

For its part, the EDL Company reiterated its statement whereby it stressed that it is impossible to repair the malfunctions because of the ongoing strike. On the other hand, the strike seems to be lasting and may witness an escalation after the protesters considered that the Finance Ministry responded negatively to the letter sent by the General Director Kamal al-Hayek, whereby he called for reconsidering the reductions in the entitlements of the company's workers and employees.              

However, sources from the Finance Ministry expressed their surprise towards the strike, noting that the 2013 budget is under preparation, while the demands of these protesters must be brought by the company's director to the Finance Minister.                

Accordingly, the services companies stressed that they are doing their best in order to repair the malfunctions, but the workers' strike is also preventing them from intervening.
