MP Ghanem:We engaged in a deep discussion where each party voiced its objections

The parliamentary sub-committee in charge of discussing the electoral law, resumed its session at the Hall of Administration and Justice Committee at Parliament on Tuesday, under the chairmanship of MP Robert Ghanem.

MPs Ali Bazzi, Ali Fayyad, Sami Gemayel, George Adwan, Alain Aoun, Ahmad Fatfat, Serge Torsarkissian, Hagop Pakradounian and Akram Chehayyeb were present at the meeting.

Following the meeting, MP Robert Ghanem said that the approval of an electoral law will not end disputes in Lebanon.

"In case we achieved progress on Wednesday, we will continue the discussions in future meetings," Ghanem said.

For his part MP Michel Pharaon said that it was unfortunate that an agreement was not reached over an electoral law, adding "we support an electoral law based on small-sized districts".

"We proposed holding elections based on an amended version of the Orthodox Gathering law," Pharaon said.
