French flag burnt in Baalbek in solidarity with Georges Abdallah

Sit-ins held in solidarity with Lebanese detainee in French prisons, Georges Ibrahim Abdallah and calling for his release continued especially after a judicial source announced the postponement of the hearing scheduled Monday to look into the request of conditional release due to the appeal filed by the Public Prosecution. The legal period to look into this appeal extends for 2 months.              

In Kobayat, Abdallah's hometown, and upon the invitation of the committee following up on the case, a sit-in was held in solidarity with Georges Abdallah, including a candles march.      

In Baalbek, another sit-in was held in solidarity with Abdallah outside the French Cultural Center where protestors burned the French flag and raised banners condemning the latest developments following the judiciary’s decision to release him and deport him.         

At the forefront of protestors were MP Salem Rafei, representatives of the civil parties and associations and the brother of Georges who announced that a sit-in will be held on Monday outside the French embassy.
