Jumblatt: Rai’s visit to Damascus exceeds all political polarities

National Struggle Front leader MP Walid Jumblatt said Monday that if Arsal is indeed besieged, then it is by the acts of "some intruders who want to distort its Arab history or by those who deliver fiery speeches in the north, while turning a blind eye to the exceptional sacrifices of the army and the call of former PM Saad Hariri."

Jumblatt told Al-Anbaa Daily on Monday that if Arsal were inundated, it would be by some small MPs and sons of MPs who are exploiting the political void within the Future Movement.

Separately, Jumblatt considered the visit of Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Beshara Rai to Damascus as positive in terms that it “exceeds all political polarities.”

“It conveyed a message of peace to Syria and stressed the necessity of protecting diversity in the East,” he said.
