Berri: We are pushing the subcommittee forward to agree on new electoral law

The Parliamentary meeting held on Wednesday in Ain El Tineh revolved around the draft electoral law as MPs noticed a cautious optimism by Parliament in light of the results reached by the parliamentary sub-committee tasked with discussing the electoral law.

This as Berri called the head of the parliamentary sub-committee MP Robert Ghanem and tasked him with pursuing the committee’s meetings this week “to pave the way for discussions over a consensual electoral law," Berri was quoted as saying.

Following his meeting with Berri, MP Georges Adwan said that that the Lebanese Forces will present their electoral draft law before Monday, pointing out that the draft would facilitate consensus, in addition to being the closest to Berri’s proposal.

Adwan stressed that all parties agree on the hybrid electoral law.
