Morsi issues decisions to contain Port Said disobedience

Egyptian President Mohammad Morsi decided to submit a draft law to re-operate the Port Said’s free zone which has been witnessing civil disobedience since Sunday. He also decided to allocate parts of the Suez Canal’s revenues to develop the three cities near the Canal.

According to a statement issued by the Presidency, Morsi decided to submit a draft law to the Shura Council to re-operate Port Said’s free zone. The statement added that Morsi decided to allocate 400 million EGP annually from the revenues of the Suez Canal to develop the 3 cities near the Canal and create new job opportunities for youths.

The statement pointed out that this package of measures and decisions will be a prelude for the development of other geographic locations which are no less important, including Sinai, al-Saeed, Matrouh and al-Nawba.
