REPORT: Fatah Movement’s military wing vows to respond to death of Palestinian inmate

In a statement, the military wing of the Fatah Movement led by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas responded Monday to the death of a Palestinian inmate in Israeli prisons on Saturday.

The statement distributed by the Al Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigade in the Hebron area town of Sair in the southern West Bank prior to the funeral of inmate Arafat Jaradat stressed that this “heinous crime” will not go unpunished.

A number of masked and armed activists from the Hamas Movement were deployed on the roofs of the town’s houses, according to AFP.

Thousands of Palestinians, most of which were raising Palestinian flags and flags of Fatah headed to the town to participate in the funeral of Jaradat who was one of the activists of the Al Aqsa Martyrs’ Brigade.

In turn, Israeli security forces deployed their units outside the town in anticipation of any clashes following the funeral.

On another note, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas accused Israel of attempting to spread chaos in Palestine, stressing that the death of the Palestinian inmate “cannot go unnoticed.”
