France undecided whether to lift arms embargo off Syria

French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius said on Wednesday that France has not yet decided whether or not to back the lifting of an EU arms embargo imposed on Syria, by changing its previous stance favoring the supply of weapons to the Syrian war.            

Speaking to BFM-TV, Fabius reiterated that “they will not deliver weapons if the arms will go to the extremists of the opposition.”            

He noted that they will hold a meeting next week in London, requesting the presence of the Syrian opposition coalition chief Moaz Al-Khatib, Interim Prime Minister Ghassan Hitto and Free Syrian Army chief of staff Selim Idriss.
