Efrem to LBCI: Abducted bishops to be released soon

President of the Syriac Orthodox League Habib Efrem stressed on Tuesday that two clerics were kidnapped four months ago, noting that the Bishops abducted on Monday night in Syria were attempting to release them.

Efrem told LBCI’s Nharkom Said that the two bishops may be soon released, pointing out that “if wise positions were not taken concerning such incidents, the Christians of the Middle East will have to resort to immigration.”

Bishop Boulos Yazigi of the Greek Orthodox Church and John Ibrahim of the Assyrian Orthodox Church were abducted as they traveled from the Turkish border to the city of Aleppo on Monday. Their driver was killed. It was not immediately clear who was responsible.
