Mikati says Lebanon no longer able to bear the pressure of Syrian refugees

Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati stressed on Monday the solidity of the historical relations between Lebanon and France, and Lebanon’s need to obtain French support in order to develop these relations on the political and economic levels, pointing out that France has to continue supporting the plan set up to boost the capabilities of the Lebanese Army.

During a meeting with the French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabuis in France, Mikati called on the international community to help Lebanon solve the issue of the Syrian refugees, noting that the country is no longer able to bear the huge pressures imposed by this topic on the demographic, humanitarian and economic levels.

For his part, Fabuis stressed that his country is committed to maintain Lebanon’s stability and sovereignty and that the bilateral relations will remain solid.
