Connelly meets with Gemayel and Geagea, tackles Lebanese political situation

The US ambassador to Lebanon Maura Connelly held on Friday two separate meetings with Kataeb leader Amin Gemayel and the Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea, where she tackled the political situation in Lebanon.

During both meetings, Connelly noted that the Lebanese people are supporting holding the elections on time, urging all the parties to work on reaching this goal.

However, Connelly expressed the US support for the strong efforts deployed by the Lebanese leaders in order to conform to the legal and constitutional frameworks, stressing that the democratic process in Lebanon is essential to maintain the country’s stability.
