Diab chairs meeting of Coronavirus inter-ministerial committee

Caretaker Prime Minister Hassan Diab chaired on Tuesday at the Grand Serail a meeting of the Inter-ministerial Committee for the Follow up of the coronavirus file.

Attending the meeting were Ministers Zeina Akar, Raoul Nehme, Mohammad Fahmi, Michel Najjar, Ramzi Musharrafieh, Hamad Hassan, Vartine Ohanian, and Charbel Wehbe, as well as the Secretary General of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers Judge Mahmoud Makie, the Secretary General of the Higher Defense Council Major-General Mahmoud Al-Asmar, and PM’s Advisors Khodor Taleb, Petra Khoury, and Hussein Kaafarani.

Health Minister presented the health plan related to increasing the number of beds in hospitals, mobile field campaigns, rapid tests, isolation of infected cases, and other measures.

The reports submitted by the Ministry of Health were also assessed; the said reports show a slight improvement in terms of positive cases.

The interlocutors stressed the need to pursue all medical approaches and available guidance for the lockdown to yield acceptable results by the end of next week.

The committee will hold a meeting early next month to follow up on infection rates.
