El Hajj Hassan to protect Lebanese farmers, merchants and importers
Minister of Agriculture Hussein El Hajj Hassan explained the process of organizing the import and export of potatoes, especially those imported from the KSA. He stressed that the ministry is working on providing protective measures for Lebanese farmers, merchants and importers.

During a press conference, Hajj Hassan said that he has no personal dispute with anyone, adding that the potato problem lies in the fact that there are large quantities of potato in warehouses as well as significant quantities imported from Egypt and the KSA.

The minister said that if the quantity of potatoes imported to Lebanon last year was similar to this year’s, no one would have cultivated potatoes this year.
