REPORT: Fajr 5 missiles change lives of Tel Aviv citizens

On the fifth day of the second war on Gaza, Fajr 5 missiles changed the lives of Tel Aviv citizens raising panic, fear and urging them to search for missing shelters. Ten kilometers away, in Holon city a rocket launched from Hamas started fires, adding a new city to the battle field.

These scenes escalated the war atmosphere sparked by the Israeli Army after declaring that 40,000 reserve troops arrived to the border with Gaza, while some of the roads leading to the north were closed since hundreds of tanks and military vehicles are being transported. The Israeli Army Command threatens that the date of the implementation of the ground operation has become near, awaiting the political order.

Despite the promises launched by the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during his interior talks that there will be no ground invasion operation, he threatened, at the beginning of the cabinet session that the army forces are ready to expand the operation, as he left the discussions concerning Israel’s conditions to ease the aggression behind the scenes.

On the other hand, it has been revealed that there is a request for an agreement whereby Israel wants to ensure that Hamas will not be represented as victorious, Gaza will be disarmed and Hamas vows to give up its missile arsenal.

With Israel bragging about the success of its Iron Dome defense system, claiming to have shot down 90% of the Palestinian rockets, the debate raged regarding the persistence of the operation, given the losses sustained by the Jewish State since the cost of the rockets launched by the Iron Dome during the five past days exceeded $USD 34 million, with an average of $USD 50,000 per rocket. In addition, the daily cost of the 40,000 reserve troops who were recruited reached $USD 760,000, other than the losses sustained in the southern towns on the fifth day which reached around $USD 20,000.

All these numbers are considered only the beginning of the losses resulting from this war, as expectations indicate that the Israeli economy will sustain in this war around $USD 40 million per day in losses.
