Food expenses for families are now worth five times minimum wage-report

A report issued by the Crisis Observatory at the American University of Beirut said on Wednesday that food expenses for families in Lebanon are now worth five times the minimum wage.

The report added that the minimum cost of food for a family of five people has become estimated per month at more than 3,500,000 Lebanese pounds, without calculating the costs of water, electricity and gas.

"The price of a basic food items increased by more than 50 percent in less than a month," the report explained.
