Bassil: I don’t accept to be ruled by anyone, even Hezbollah
The leader of the Free Patriotic Movement MP Gebran Bassil, stated on Friday that President Michel Aoun will remain in office until the end of his term.

Bassil’s comments were made while addressing an electoral rally in the northern city of Batroun whereby he said that the electoral battle in Batroun is between those who have done everything to advance the country and those who have done nothing but talk and lie.

Bassil bemoaned those who claim Iran is occupying the country.

“I have not seen the Iranian ambassador visiting candidates and interfering in the electoral lists, nor have I seen him in the Iftar of candidates in Maarab,” Bassil added.

As for those who say that voting for the FPM means voting for Hezbollah, Bassil said that he does accept to be ruled by anyone, even Hezbollah.

“If you vote for the Lebanese Forces, you will be ruled by the Muslim Brotherhood,” he added.

“(LF leader) Geagea promised that the exchange rate of the US dollar would fall after the elections. It is well known that he and the ruling elite are happy with the dollar's rise because it puts pressure on the president and on us, and its electoral repercussions are bad,” Bassil explained.

“Thus, the purpose of the dollar's rise ends with the end of the elections and if this matter is true, the LF would be responsible for the dollar's rise," he concluded by saying.
