EU EOM sets up round table to put elections recommendations into action

As part of their final visit to Lebanon, the European Union Election Observation Mission and the European Union Mission in Lebanon held a round table discussion on Friday with various interlocutors from the Lebanese authorities, representatives of political parties, civil society, international organizations, and media outlets.

The goal is to find ways to put the mission's recommendations into action in order to improve the country's electoral process.

Following the press conference, the delegation's head and members met with various interlocutors, ranging from higher Lebanese authorities to political parties of all stripes and civil society representatives, to present the final report.

"During today's round table discussion, the invited interlocutors from the EU EOM discussed the recommendations, in order to try to assess to what extent and how these recommendations will be implemented in the near future," said Deputy Head of Mission Yarik Dominsky.

Dominsky also emphasized that the mission's most important contribution to the country is these recommendations, which serve as a starting point for potential future electoral reforms.

He concluded by stressing that the European Union is fully prepared to assist Lebanon in implementing the recommendations and strengthening and improving future electoral processes.
