Katy White, a pupil at Amman Valley Comprehensive, looks much like fairytale heroine Rapunzel with her long golden hair.
Schoolgirl Katy has plenty of admirers who stop her to gaze at her lengthy hair, which is almost the same height as her.
Katy is 4ft 11in and her hair measures 3ft 4in. In her 12 year life, Katy cut her hair only three times (apart from the time she cut her own fringe).
Apart from being a source of admiration, Katy’s hair creates its own problems. On average, her hair takes an hour to wash and just as long to dry.
“Katy's hair is not yet record-breaking,” a spokesperson from the Guinness World Record said, adding however “that is some long hair for a girl of her age”.
If you love Katy's hair, here are some foods your can consume that will help your hair grow faster and healthier.
1- Salmon
This kind of fish is loaded with strong hair supporters like Vitamin D and protein and contains omega-3 fatty acids that enhance hair growth by keeping your scalp healthy.
2- Yellow peppers
Yellow bell peppers contain almost five and a half times more vitamin C than oranges. This is good news since vitamin C is an antioxidant that strengthens hair follicles, thus preventing breakage.
3- Oysters
Zinc deficiency has been found to cause poor scalp conditions and hair loss and oysters contain a significant amount of zinc.
4- Eggs
Eggs are a source of those above mentioned omega-3s, and they also contain biotin (which many people trying to grow their hair take in supplement form).
Nonetheless, it is not the egg white that will give you long and beautiful hair, but the yolk. Eating so much egg whites could block the absorption of biotin into the body, causing a depletion of this micronutrient.
5- Sunflower Seeds
Only a small quantity of sunflower seeds can provide you with an abundance of vitamin E, which will promote blood flow to the scalp and enhance faster hair growth.
6- Sweet potatoes
Sweet potatoes are loaded with beta carotene, a precursor for vitamin A that enhances hair growth and gives you a healthy scalp.
7- Avocados
Avocados are an age-old beauty secret thanks to their high concentration of essential fatty acids naturally found in skin cells (which helps to keep your skin supple and smooth).
When applied to the hair and scalp, avocados have the added ability to stimulate collagen and elastin production.
8- Almonds
These nuts will make your hair grow faster and thicker as they are loaded with biotin content. One cup has nearly one-third of your daily requirement.
