Canada imposes sanctions on 'extremist' Israeli settlers due to violence in the West Bank

Canada imposed sanctions on Thursday on four Israelis accused of committing acts of violence against Palestinians in the West Bank, joining allies including the United States and Britain in an attempt to halt the increasing settler violence.

The sanctions, the first imposed by Canada on what the Foreign Ministry described as "extremist Israeli settlers," target individuals accused of directly or indirectly involvement in acts of violence against Palestinian civilians and their property.
