Hezbollah slams accusations of German Foreign Minister

Hezbollah slammed on Saturday accusations of German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle stating that the party killed civilians in Syria's al-Qusayr, near the Lebanese border.

Hezbollah described in a statement FM Westerwelle's accusations as “void, untrue and groundless.”

“International customs state that any country's stances should not be based on false and misleading information,” the statement added.

The party considered that the accusations came as part of the campaign launched against Hezbollah to please the United States.

Westerwelle said an interview published in Saudi Okaz newspaper that Hezbollah's involvement in al-Qusayr battles is a “dangerous turn of events in Syria,” slamming the targeting of civilians by Hezbollah fighters.

Hezbollah, an ally of the regime of Syrian President Bashar Assad, became involved in the conflict in neighboring Syria, which entered now in its third year.

The group has sent fighters to battle alongside regime troops in the region of Homs, helping the Syrian army to recapture the town this month.
