Higher Islamic Council convenes, denounces Sidon’s events

The Higher Islamic Council held a regular meeting on Saturday at Dar al-Fatwa under the chairmanship of the Mufti of the Republic Sheikh Mohammad Rashid Qabbani, where the efforts deployed in order to ease the sectarian tension topped the agenda of discussions.

The conferees also discussed the latest developments, mainly the recent events which took place in the southern city of Sidon, stressing the need to support the military institution.

Meanwhile, an extraordinary meeting headed by former Minister Omar Mesqawi was held in Sidon, where the conferees stressed the need to promote coexistence and prevent falling into strife, especially with the holy month of Ramadan drawing near.
