Caretaker Minister Mansour meets with Russia's Chargé d'Affaires

Caretaker Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour held contacts on Monday with Russia's Chargé d'Affaires, with talks featuring high on the issues that were put on the Security Council's agenda, mainly the draft statement issued by Australia and Luxembourg on the Syrian city of Homs.

On the 6th of July, members of the deeply divided UN Security Council were considering whether to approve a statement calling on the Syrian government to facilitate immediate access to the estimated 2,500 civilians trapped in the city of Homs as a result of recent raging battles.

For its part, the Russian mission at the UN said that the draft statement suggested by Australia and Luxembourg to the UN Security Council in regards to the situation taking place in Homs is "unbalanced and based on double standards".
