MP Aoun says supporters of Takfirist ideology are criminals

Change and Reform Bloc Leader MP Michel Aoun said Tuesday that the Bir al-Abed attack is the result of fiery rhetoric, adding that strife attempts against the Lebanese Armed Forces are on a constant.

Following the bloc's weekly meeting, MP Aoun said the bombing incident should not only be a subject of condemnation by politicians and mentioned that the "any person who detonates a bomb in a residential neighborhood should be considered a criminal".

"Those supporting the Takfirist ideology and inciting sectarianism and strife in Lebanon are criminals," MP Aoun said.

MP Aoun stressed that the military operation carried out by LAF soldiers in Sidon's Abra region is one of the most successful and asked "since when has Ahmad al-Assir become the defendant of Lebanese citizens' rights?"
