Berri calls for speeding up cabinet formation

House Speaker Nabih Berri stressed the importance of forming a new cabinet following the explosion that rocked Beirut Southern Suburb’s region of Bir el-Abed on Tuesday.

During the Wednesday periodic meeting, Berri mentioned that the General Authority session scheduled for the 16th, 17th, and 18th of July may be deferred "should division remain prevalent".

In this regard, Development and Liberation Bloc MP Ali Bazzi told LBCI that there is disparity in points of view regarding some internal and external files as well as the stances regarding Israel and the Resistance.

Earlier on Wednesday, House Speaker Berri received calls from each of Lebanese President Michel Sleiman, Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati and Prime Minister-Designate Tammam Salam who denounced the attack on Beirut's Bir al-Abed district.

Similarly, Belgian House of Representatives' Speaker André Flahaut contacted Speaker Berri and condemned the attack, expressing his sympathy for the wounded persons and residents of Dahieh.
