General Parliamentary session postponed until the 29th of July

Speaker Nabih Berri declared on Tuesday that the general parliamentary session will be postponed until July 29, 30 and 31, after today's session failed to reach quorum.

In this context MP Ahmad Fatfat declared that the issue of the extension of the mandate of Lebanese Armed Forces Commander General Jean Kahwagi has not been linked to the return of Major General Ashraf Rifi to the Internal Security Forces.

MP Ahmad Fatfat told LBCI that contacts are still ongoing regarding the issue of the cabinet's formation, stressing that they do not seek the exclusion of Hezbollah from the government.

For his part, MP Ali Hassan Khalil said that Berri supports the extension of the mandate of LAF Chief General Jean Kahwagi according to a decree issued by the Parliament.

Meanwhile, the deputies of the Free Patriotic Movement abstained from attending the session.
