Sleiman says political disputes paralyze work of constitutional institutions

Lebanese President Michel Sleiman called Tuesday on Lebanese factions to adhere to the Baabda declaration, adding that political disputes will paralyze the work of constitutional institutions.

During an Iftar held at the Baabda Presidential Palace, President Sleiman called for a swift solution for the issue of the Syrian refugees and for support to the military institution so it may maintain security, preserve civil peace, and fight against terrorism.

Sleiman said that officials should bear their responsibilities following the Bir al-Abed explosion and the explosion on the Majdel Anjar-Masnaa international road, adding that they should exert efforts to safeguard the unity of the country.

Sleiman highlighted the necessity of forming a new cabinet that garners the support of the parliament, and called for supporting Prime Minister-Designate Tammam Salam in this task.

Sleiman concluded by calling on political parties to refrain from setting preconditions and mentioned that political void works against the benefit of the Lebanese state.
