SNC applauds EU's decision to blacklist Hezbollah's military wing

The Syrian opposition welcomed Tuesday the European Union's decision to put Hezbollah's military wing on its list of terrorist organizations, calling on the EU to try the group's officials who committed "crimes" in Syria.

For its part, the Syrian National Coalition (SNC) issued a statement whereby it announced that the decision is "a step in the right direction," urging the EU countries to take "practical" measures in order to put an end to Hezbollah's involvement in Syria.

Hezbollah, a Muslim Shiite movement and a staunch ally of President Bashar Assad, has been involved in the conflict in neighboring Syria stretching now into its third year, with fighters battling alongside the Syrian army against the mostly Sunni Muslim rebel fighters.
