Berri calls on European Union to reconsider its decision

House Speaker Nabih Berri condemned the decision of the European Union Foreign Ministers to add the military wing of Hezbollah on the EU list of terrorist organizations; saying that its timing, content and the potential impact reflect an underestimation of the legal proceedings, since no direct indictment was sent to Hezbollah.

According to Speaker Berri, the European decision was a service paid to Israel since it coincided with the exclusion of Israeli settlements of the West Bank and the east of Al-Quds from the free trade agreements.

Praising the stance of European countries that expressed reservations about this decision, Berri called on the EU "to reconsider its decision that affects, with no doubt, all the Lebanese citizens and their interests in Europe”.

“This decision will paralyze the Arab-European relations and partnership; exposing the Lebanese situation to further tensions," Berri concluded.
