Fletcher has car accident following meeting with Aoun in Rabieh

British Ambassador to Lebanon Tom Fletcher held a meeting on Wednesday with the head of the Change and Reform bloc MP Michel Aoun in Rabieh with talks featuring high on the latest developments in the region and the challenges Lebanon is facing in light of regional conflicts.

Both officials also tackled the help the international community could provide, highlighting the need to support stability in Lebanon.

For his part, Fletcher said that Britain wants to support the Lebanese Armed Forces, adding that it will grant the country humanitarian aid since it shelters a huge number of Syrian refugees.

In a question directed at Fletcher over the European Union's decision to blacklist Hezbollah's military wing, he pointed out that the EU is keen on helping Lebanon uphold stability.

It is worth noting that the British ambassador had a minor car accident following his meeting at Rabieh, but no injuries were reported.
