REPORT: Head of Lebanese Basketball Union dubs coach Ghassan Sarkis a troublemaker

Head of the Lebanese Basketball Union Robert Abou Abdallah said on Thursday that it was not the first time in which the coach of the Lebanese basketball national team, Ghassan Sarkis, attacks the Union, accusing him of fabricating problems whether they be with the players or the referees.

Abou Abdallah's stance came during a press conference in which he noted that he suggested the use of an auditor's service in the Lebanese Basketball Union to reveal all accusations launched against him.

He also noted that all funds, which he added are certified, were entrusted to the Union from contractual companies.

Abou Abdallah added that political interventions are the main cause of the events turnover in the basketball debacle.

The Lebanon national men's basketball team will miss the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) Asia Championship after the world basketball body suspended Lebanon from competing internationally.

FIBA has officially suspended the Lebanese Basketball Federation (FLB) because of legal troubles inside the local league as well as political disputes involving basketball stakeholders in the country.

According to Lebanon's National News Agency, the ban will last four years.
