President Sleiman says ongoing rocket attacks will not change national principles

President Michel Sleiman said on Friday that ongoing rocket attacks will not change national principles and convictions expressed through honest and sincere dialogue.

In this regard, Sleiman called on the Lebanese people to remain vigilant of opportunistic parties that do not benefit from Lebanon's stability, urging the security apparatuses to launch further investigations in order to reveal the circumstances behind the attack and to take all the needed measures to thwart such actions.

Two rockets slammed on Thursday night into the region of Yarze, the first hitting the al-Frayha building near the Presidential Palace and the second landing near the Khashiqji building, military sources told LBCI on Friday.

Well-informed sources also told LBCI that the perpetrators probably used a mobile launch pad and then escaped the area.

The blasts were the latest in a series of rocket attacks that have targeted areas just south of the capital in the past two months, a direct fallout from the civil war in neighboring Syria.
