UCC collects signatures at Ministry of Labor

The Union Coordinating Committee (UCC) resumed on Thursday the collection of signatures for the one million signatures petition at the Ministry of Labor.

Ministry employees along with Lebanese citizens signed the petition in order to refer the pay scale to Parliament.

Head of the private school teachers association Nehme Mahfoud hailed the efforts of the Ministry of Labor's employees and the Lebanese citizens, adding that the UCC will carry out escalatory steps next September should the pay scale not be referred to parliament.

The Union Coordinating Committee alongside the private and public schools association had launched an open ended strike on February 19th, 2013 after making repeated called on Prime Minister Najib Mikati to validate the new salary scale and consequently refer it to Parliament for ratification.

Cabinet referred the wage scale on Thursday 21st of March, 2013.
