President Aoun thanks Trump for US efforts to secure ceasefire and lasting stability: Sources to LBCI

A phone call took place Thursday afternoon between U.S. President Donald Trump and Lebanon’s President Joseph Aoun, during which Aoun reiterated his gratitude for Trump’s efforts to reach a ceasefire in Lebanon, sources told LBCI.

He also stressed the importance of ensuring long-term peace and stability as a step toward a broader peace process in the region.

Aoun also expressed his hope that these efforts would continue in order to achieve a ceasefire as soon as possible.

In response, Trump voiced his support for President Aoun and for Lebanon, stressing his commitment to fulfilling the Lebanese request to secure a ceasefire at the earliest opportunity.

Aoun refused to speak with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu because he did not receive guarantees of a ceasefire in Lebanon, sources told LBCI.
