Mikati reiterates calls to dissociate Lebanon from Syrian crisis

Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati called Monday on all parties to dissociate Lebanon from the events taking place in Syria and to cooperate in order to form a new cabinet capable of settling pending issues and of controlling the internal situation amid the repercussions of current regional developments.

Mikati met with Russian ambassador to Lebanon Alexander Zaspkin who said that his country is deploying strong efforts to prevent the military strike against Syria and to resume talks in a bid to reach a political settlement to the crisis, stressing the need to protect Lebanon from the repercussions of the regional events in order to maintain security and stability.

On another note, Mikati headed a security meeting aiming at discussing the situation in the northern city of Tripoli and means to reactivate the alertness of the security apparatuses in restoring security to the city.

In this context, the caretaker PM praised the security measures implemented by the Lebanese Armed Forces and security apparatuses in order to control the security situation, stressing the need to maintain coordination between the various administrations and apparatuses.
