STL Registrar wraps up visit to Beirut

Registrar of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon (STL), Daryl Mundis, wrapped up on Friday his official visit to Lebanon.

During his visit Mundis reportedly reminded the Lebanese state of the financial responsibilities to the Tribunal.

The registrar also met with caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati and Prime Minister-designate Tammam Salam and other officials.

Mundis was appointed as registrar of the STL last July.

Among the duties of the STL registrar is to supervise the Tribunal's administration including court management, relations with states, budget, fundraising, witness protection and detention facilities.

The Special Tribunal for Lebanon was set up by the United Nations at the Lebanese government's request to try the alleged perpetrators of the 2005 bombing in which former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri and 21 others were killed.
