Mikati: Funding STL is not a favor to anyone, Hezbollah will understand
PM Najib Mikati stressed that by funding the Special Tribunal for Lebanon, he was not doing anyone a favor, adding that he is certain that Hezbollah will understand this step, take into account the country’s critical situation and prevail Lebanon’s best interest and realpolitik over any other considerations.    

Mikati told the ministers that he will call for a cabinet’s session next week to follow up on the social, administrative and development issues, by holding specialized sessions in which concerned ministers and experts will participate.

Mikati underscored the importance of passing the 2012 budget and referring it to the Parliament. Mikati emphasized the need to persevere in treating these vital issues and shielding them from the political gridlock and the daily disputes, adding that the governmental workshop will be launched with renewed momentum.  

Mikati also received a phone call from the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon to congratulate him for funding the STL.
