Patriarch Rai: Lebanon does not belong to one party

The Maronite Patriarch Cardinal Beshara Boutros Rai said on Thursday that the new cabinet must be formed as soon as possible.

“The country does not belong to a specific party and no one can impose influence with the use of arms,” Rai said.

Upon his arrival to Beirut airport coming from Rome, Rai hoped that the political crisis would soon end with the formation of a new government, expressing regret towards the attacks carried out by Takfiri extremist groups against Christians in the region, “while the Lebanese people, Muslims and Christians struggle to coexist,” as he said.

The patriarch stressed that Lebanon is characterized by its diversity, noting that "no one has the right to manipulate the country’s fate".
