Ferzli reveals to LBCI details of lunch banquet hosted for the March 8 alliance

The former deputy Prime Minister Elie Ferzli said on Friday that the Orthodox electoral proposal must be the sole item on the agenda of the parliamentary sessions, stressing the need to restore national partnership through an electoral law that guarantees fair representation.

In a statement to LBCI’s Nharkom Said, Ferzli said that each confession in Lebanon must be able to elect its own deputies, pointing out that the Christians must have the right to elect their own MPs in order to achieve real national partnership.

In this context, Ferzli stated that the Orthodox electoral draft law takes into consideration the situation of the region, mainly the marginalized Christians in the Arab World, particularly in Syria, explaining that passing a new electoral law is among the prerogatives of the Parliament.

Commenting on the lunch hosted by Ferzli at his residence for the March 8 main parties, the former deputy PM said the lunch banquet did not aim at reaching reconciliation between the coalition’s parties since they are already in agreement over strategic issues, adding that the discussions tackled mainly the dangers threatening the existence of Christians in both Lebanon and Syria.

Ferzli noted that an agreement was reached to seek common grounds with the Lebanese Forces and the Kataeb party under Bkerke’s mediation.
