Hand grenade found overnight near residence of Burj al-Arab Mayor

A hand grenade was found on Saturday overnight near the residence of the head of municipality of Burj al-Arab Aref Shkhaidam, the state-run National News Agency reported on Sunday.

The Internal Security Forces' military expert worked on dismantling the grenade after the security apparatuses cordoned off the area.

In turn, Shkhaidam denounced the security situation in Lebanon, noting that all the Lebanese parties should stand against criminal acts by working on improving security surveillance and exerting joint efforts in order to thwart any attempts to undermine security.

Shkhaidam also called on caretaker Interior Minister Marwan Charbel to further revive the role of municipalities and to provide them with the necessary material needs since "it ensures a better surveillance".
