President Sleiman says institutional work guarantees Lebanon's unity

President Michel Sleiman stressed on Tuesday the need to honor constitutional deadlines, mainly the presidential and parliamentary elections, and called for upholding the state's institutions.

"The institutional work guarantees Lebanon's unity and sovereignty and the Lebanese official leaders should exercise good governance," Sleiman said during a ceremony held for the occasion of the expansion of Beirut Port's container area.

President Sleiman also called for administrative reform, noting that the rule of law must be imposed in Lebanon, steering clear of the corruption that has become "rampant" at some institutions.

"The political leaders should take well-devised decisions that shall preserve constitutional institutions," Sleiman said.
