Abdul Latif Saleh to LBCI: We urge LAF to control Tripoli’s security situation

The media official of the Arab Democratic Party Abdul Latif Saleh expressed his hope on Wednesday that Lebanese Armed Forces intervene to control the security situation in Tripoli and maintain the northern Lebanese city’s stability.

Saleh told LBCI during Nharkom Said that factions in Tripoli are not seeking any escalation, urging LAF soldiers to strike with an iron fist all those tampering with the city’s security.
Clashes erupted on Monday overnight in the northern Lebanese city of Tripoli with tension prevailing over various axes and shells landing in the city.

Numerous residents, mainly in Tripoli's al-Baqqar Street and Syria Street, have fled the city following overnight clashes that left one person killed and several people injured.

The port city of Tripoli has long been a stronghold of Sunni Islamists in northern Lebanon.
But the city has become increasingly volatile in recent months due to the civil war in neighboring Syria, where the Sunni majority is leading a revolt against President Bashar al-Assad.
