Hariri accuses Syrian regime of waging war on Tripoli

Former Prime Minister Saad Hariri accused Syrian President Bashar al-Assad of being the "mastermind" of all crimes in Lebanon, holding the state responsible for the deteriorating security situation in Tripoli.

In a statement issued on Saturday by his press office, Hariri said it was “useless” to try to resolve the governmental crisis, to hold a parliamentary session or to resume national dialogue after the northern city of Tripoli has come under attack in a “suspicions war.”

Hariri also said “there is a heinous war the Syrian regime has launched against Tripoli and its residents through its local partners".

"From now on, we will not stand idly by while Tripoli's security and stability are being undermined and we hold the Lebanese state responsible for "giving up the protection of the city and its residents".
