Health Ministry to launch two-phase vaccination campaign against polio

The Health Ministry has finalized, in collaboration with the World Health Organization, the needed preparations to launch a two-phase national vaccination campaign against polio, the state-run National News Agency reported on Thursday.

The first phase of the campaign is due to take place between 8 and 12 November, while the second will be held between 6 and 10 December 2013.

Caretaker Health Minister Ali Hassan Khalil has briefed all ministries and institutions about the aforementioned campaign to provide all the needed support in order to protect Lebanese and Syrian children.

In his letters to the concerned ministries and institutions, Ali Hassan Khalil said that some children in Syria were diagnosed with this disease, noting that a series of vaccination steps against polio were deemed necessary, the agency added.
