Economic bodies: Wage hike not the best solution

The economic bodies said that the wage-hike decision is not the best solution to solve the chronic economic and social problems in Lebanon. They called on the government to devise a comprehensive socio-economic plan that meets the aspirations of all the Lebanese society’s social groups and the private sector’s institutions. The plan would also address livelihoods on the long term.

Following a meeting, the economic bodies stressed that the best place for these problems to be dealt with is the Socio-Economic Council that must be revived as soon as possible, especially in the current circumstances, for it represents the main constitutional institution for dialogue and dispute settlement.
