Minister Nahhas to LBCI: Tripoli’s main problem is political

 
Caretaker Economy Minister Nicolas Nahhas denounced on Sunday the attacks against residents in Tripoli as well as the clashes that are continuously erupting at the northern Lebanese city, considering the city’s main problem as political.  

Nahhas told LBCI during Nharkom Said that granting power in Tripoli to the Lebanese Armed Forces will avert strife; urging the Lebanese judiciary to carry on with its tasks regarding the twin explosions that targeted the city on the 23rd of August, leaving 45 killed and almost 500 others injured.               

Regarding the political situation in Lebanon, caretaker Minister Nahhas noted that national dialogue sessions aim at resolving the country’s situation; however, there is no convenient atmosphere for such sessions.                        

On another note, caretaker Minister Nahhas said “the disassociation policy is not considered as isolation, it is the fact of keeping Lebanon away from regional crises.”             

Talking about the relation between caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati and Saudi officials, Nahhas said this relation is personal since the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has certain choices when it comes to politics.         

With respect to the dossier of oil drilling Nahhas said “extracting oil off Lebanon's shores is necessary,” however added that “PM Mikati will not breach the constitution and convene a cabinet session to please a certain political party.”
