Tunnel on airport road reopened in both directions

Members of the Internal Security Forces managed on Thursday morning to reopen the tunnel on the airport road after removing the Civil Defense vehicle that broke down.

The traffic flow returned to normal on the highway.

The ISF chief spokesman, Lieutenant Colonel Joseph Mousallem stressed that the ISF are deployed across the main streets in order to avoid further traffic jam.

In a phone call with LBCI Nharkom Said TV Show, Mousallem said ISF members are still working since Wednesday evening to help citizens, noting that communications are being held with the Union of Municipalities while following up on road works.

He also called on Lebanese citizens to abide by traffic laws, and said: "Citizens are urged to contact Security Forces on the 112 hotline if any problem occurs".

This comes after the eastern side of the tunnel on the airport- Beirut highway was closed after the Civil Defense vehicle broke down in the tunnel while working on removing water.
