Former minister Hrawi to LBCI: Saudi grant to LAF requires cabinet approval

President Michel Sleiman's adviser, former minister Khalil al-Hrawi said the Saudi grant to the Lebanese Armed Forces requires the cabinet's approval, stressing that the concerned authorities will deal with this issue as per the constitution.

"Claims that the Lebanese army doesn't need sophisticated weapons are useless," Hrawi said in a phone call with LBCI's Nharkom Said TV Show on Thursday.

He also stressed that President Sleiman's stances and beliefs are well-known since he was a Lebanese Army Commander, and said: "Changing them is out of the question".

Separately, Former minister Hrawi commented on claims that a new government will be formed on the 7th or 8th of January, and said: "The information circulated via newspapers is untrue and a consensual cabinet will be formed".
