March 14 alliance figures meet in LF headquarters in Maarab

A delegation from March 14 alliance met on Friday in the headquarters of Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea in Maarab, announcing that the period after the assassination of former minister Mohammad Chatah will be not like the period that preceded the operation.

The officials reportedly discussed the situation in the country following Chatah's assassination and Haret Hreik's blast.

The delegation included Future bloc MPs Nohad el-Machnouk, Jean Ogassabian, Hadi Hobeiche and March 14 General-Secretariat Coordinator Fares Souaid.

An explosion rocked the Lebanese capital Beirut on Friday, December 27, targeting the convoy of former minister Mohammad Chatah.

Sources at the explosion site said Chatah was on his way to attend a meeting at Beit al-Wasat when the explosion occurred.

The sources added that the explosion was caused by a booby-trapped car, identified as a Nissan, which was parked only one hour before the explosion; however, in information made available to LBCI, the explosive-laden vehicle was identified as a Honda reported stolen from Lebanon in 2012.

The explosion in Beirut's Starco claimed the lives of 8 persons, including former minister Chatah, and injured 71 others.

A powerful explosion shook southern Beirut, a stronghold of Hezbollah, on Thursday 2nd of January, killing at least 4 people and injuring over 77 others.

The explosion took place in al-Arid Street in Haret Hreik near Jawad restaurant only meters away from Hezbollah's political council, sources said.
