Caretaker FM Mansour: Top al-Qaeda commander's death dealt a blow to the judiciary

"The death of Abdullah Azzam Brigades' leader Majed al-Majed has dealt a blow to the Lebanese judiciary since all plans he wanted to carry out via his group in Lebanon and abroad were undisclosed," caretaker Foreign Minister Adnan Mansour said on Monday.

Separately, Mansour said Saudi Arabia’s grant to the Lebanese Armed Forces is not enough to protect Lebanon, noting that "the army is currently unable to be strong without a Resistance providing it with support".

Over one week ago, President Michel Sleiman said Saudi Arabia has pledged $3 billion to buy weapons from France to help support and strengthen the Lebanese Armed Forces.

Mansour also cast doubts on whether the provided weapons will include military planes or anti-aircraft missiles, adding that they will be limited to logistical matters.
